But Rick appears to have relocated from Oregon to Georgia a few years ago and disappeared off the web. It kept the look of the original yugo and can still be found on ebay for about $75.Ģ) Rick Miller Muzzle Brakes for the yugo seemed to be a really good solution a few years ago. However, I am open to hearing other solutions that have worked well for others.ġ) Tapco had a yugo muzzle brake that has been discontinued. I'd prefer to get a threaded muzzle break to install as the original did. I want to make it a cheap-ammo-eating training rifle for the kids/wife. The softer I can make the kick (already super light) the better. I want to remove the grenade launcher off of my Yugo SKS and replace it with something more functional like a flash hider or muzzle brake (preferred). I figured I would report what I have found and see what other solutions others have come up with. The problem is that some of the solutions people proposed years ago are no longer available. Before shooting the rifle this rod was straight and by all appearances look fine.I find a lot of forums listings on this exact topic, but nothing recent.

Obviously this part is shot, and given this happened with initial test of the rifle, I worry that this rifle may have issues that just replacing the rod wont fix. The sides of the head and rod show damage from the inside of the tube they operate in. Took the rifle to the range for the first time the other day and fired 3 shots and then gun jammed, bolt would no longer close and the end of the gas piston extension was stuck out protruding slightly over the magazine.ĭunno if the photos show well but there is a significant impression in the head of the extension from the gas rod. I reassembled the rifle and thought everything was fine. Then did second clean with gun cleaner and small amount of gun oil. I cleaned off the cosmoline with mineral spirits and went through the bore and gas tube with a bore brush to make sure everything was pretty clean. Everything looked pretty good, bore and parts condition seemed ok, decent finish. Is that correct thinking? was this a m59/66 converted to appear like a m59? If it is, should it still be able to be sold via C&R? Below is a picture of said button. I believe this as it has a selector button on the front end of the gas tube where it vents from the barrel.

Since this problem developed I've scrutinized the gun a bit more and have come to believe that this is originally a m59/66. I have run into a problem with a yugo 'm59' that I bought as C&R from wideners and have a few questions.
